The IT Connection

Pre-Pandemic Era

The moment we awake in the morning as the alarm sounds, we immediately check our phones to see if we have any messages, whether they are work-related or not. Afterwards, we go on to eat our breakfast while scrolling our phones and tablets, watching the news, and checking emails and missed
calls.

Our hands are busy fumbling through our smartphones as we stand in the shed waiting for the jeep to pass, trying to stay apprised of our notifications as they appear on our screens.  Once we arrived at our workplace, we immediately turned on our computers and sent our reports to the head office as they had to be submitted today!

Pandemic Era

It was two years ago that the pandemic hit. Despite all that, we are still confronted with these mundane tasks on a daily basis. The morning starts with waking up, checking our phones, eating breakfast while navigating with our gadgets, and sending reports as soon as we get to the office.

This time, we get to work from home, however.  Our situation has changed since we no longer need to worry about getting up before eight in the morning.  The need for waiting at jeepneys is no longer necessary as while we keep ourselves abreast of the notifications popping up, we could easily do this by working on our reports at home.

The Nexus

Throughout our daily lives, we are constantly connected to information technology, often called IT. And yes, this is the common link to all these activities. Now imagine if everyone at home didn't have an internet connection, and all their smartphones lacked data connectivity. Neither of us was able to check our supervisors' email. Our mobile phones wouldn't vibrate while we were exasperated waiting for the jeep to pass. Working from home isn't an option anymore.

It has allowed us many advantages, from ease and comfort to prompt and instantaneous submissions of reports to easy and straightforward access to all platforms and applications.

With IT, we are able to share our knowledge with the world.  Students, professors, businessmen, employees, institutions and agencies are staying up-to-date twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week!
